Texas WR Marquise Goodwin made his presence felt at the 2013 NFL Combine by posting the fastest 40-yard dash time this year and the second-fastest since the use of electronic timing began in 2000.
Goodwin's 4.27 time is the fastest among wide receivers in the electronic timing era and is second only to former East Carolina running back Chris Johnson's 4.24 in 2008. Four of the top five times posted by wide receivers were from the Big 12.
The fastest time ever recorded prior to electronic timing was running back Bo Jackson with a 4.12 in 1986. In comparison, Goodwin was hand-timed as fast as 4.17 by those present at the combine, which would be tied for fifth all-time, just behind cornerback Darrell Green, who was clocked at 4.15 in 1983 and went on to be a four-time winner of the NFL's Fastest Man Competition.
