 
Robinson stars in 2012 All-Star Football Challenge

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Longhorn senior linebacker Keenan Robinson was the top performer in the 2012 All-Star Football Challenge that aired Sunday at 3:00p.m. on ESPN2. Robinson was one of six defensive stars and 12 players total to compete in various challenges both individually and as a team. The event will be rebroadcast at 3:30 p.m. CT on Feb. 12 and Feb. 26 on ESPN. In Robinson’s first event of the night, the U.S. Marines Obstacle Course, Keenan was the second competitor in a grueling obstacle course setup. The players had to quickly hit a blocking sled, carry a ball through dummies simulating tacklers, duck under an obstacle, weave through tackling dummies, high-step through the ropes course, push another blocking sled, high-step over dummies, weave through croquet-style wickets and then sprint 35 yards. Robinson finished with a time of 27.9 seconds which was good for first place besting Cincinnati RB Isaiah Pead and Alabama LB Dont’a Hightower. The second event Robinson competed in was the Mercedes Benz Tandem Obstacle Course where he was partnered with DE Melvin Ingram of South Carolina. This event also consisted of an obstacle course with Ingram completing the first part and then handing off to Robinson to finish the event. Once again, Robinson came out on top as he and the Gamecocks defensive end finished nine-tenths of a second better than the runners-up with a time of 28.2 seconds. Robinson made it a perfect three-for-three in the Full Team Competition. Keenan teamed up with Boise State QB Kellen Moore, Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd and Ingram. Robinson was the third leg where he had to flip a truck tire then run a cones course before tagging to Ingram who ran the anchor leg. Robinson's team beat the second place squad by a full second recording a final time of 35.8.
Last year, former DE Sam Acho was the top performer in the All-Star Football Challenge winning all three events in which he competed. |
