Rose Bowl earns highest rankings since 1987
Wednesday's 41-38 Texas victory over USC in the Rose Bowl on ABC Sports earned a 21.7 rating, up 59% from last year's title game. The game, which was decided by a Vince Young touchdown with 19 seconds to play, earned the highest rating for a college football game since 1987 when the Fiesta Bowl featuring Penn State vs. Miami earned a 25.1 rating. Among the metered markets, Austin led the way with a 47.7 rating, followed by a 35.4 in Houston, a 34.8 in Los Angeles and a 34.5 in Dallas. The telecast averaged 23,928,000 households and 35,630,000 people (P2+).
