Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services

Brian Davis begins his 15th year serving University of Texas student-athletes and his 25th year working directly with Head Coach Mack Brown. As Associate Athletics Director for Football Student Services, Davis oversees a program and staff that provides academic and personal development programming and to UT football student-athletes beginning with recruiting and continuing through graduation and their respective career goals and opportunities.

With over 30 years of experience, Davis has worked with student-athletes in almost every collegiate sport, but has worked closely with football for his entire career. A track student-athlete during his undergraduate days at Iowa State University, Davis graduated with a B.A. in political science in 1981 and continued on at ISU, receiving an M.S. in higher education administration in 1983. He began his work as an athletics academic advisor as a graduate assistant in May of 1982, providing counseling and advising to Cyclone football and basketball student-athletes. In 1984, Davis also served as assistant track and field coach to Hall of Fame Head Coach Bill Bergan, assisting with long, triple, and high jumpers, as well as sprinters. In August of 1984, he began a 14-year stint at The University of North Carolina as Academic Coordinator, serving under a variety of titles until moving to Texas in 1998.

A member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics, Davis has served as an outside consultant for N4A certification at several schools, and recently participated as a panelist for NFL/NCAA Coaches Academy. On campus, Davis is a member of the Provost Council and is co-founder of Longhorn Leaders, a nationally-recognized program of leadership development and community service within the Austin Independent School District and surrounding communities. Off campus, Davis serves as civilian board member for CLEAT (Combined Law Enforcement Agencies of Texas) and is an Assistant Scout Master for Austin Troop 395.

Davis is married to Brenda Perry Davis, a speech therapist, and the couple has four sons, Spencer (20), Cameron (20), Kenan (14), and Graham (12).
