Saturday is the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Showcase featuring a doubleheader of Texas vs. UCLA in men's and women's basketball in Reliant Stadium.
Texas leads the all-time series with UCLA, 3-2, including three straight victories. Last season, Texas overcame an 11-point deficit to defeat the Bruins in Los Angeles, 69-59, on Dec. 3, 2011.
During the Rick Barnes era, Texas is 7-3 in games played in the Houston area, including a 2-1 mark at Reliant Stadium.
Four Longhorns are from the Houston area - Sheldon McClellan (Bellaire HS), Julien Lewis (La Marque HS), Danny Newsome (Langham Creek HS), Cameron Ridley (Bush HS).
Sheldon McClellan leads the team in scoring (16.4 ppg) and is shooting 91.1% (41-45) from the FT line.
Jonathan Holmes is averaging a team-best 8.4 rebounds per game (tied for 2nd in Big 12) and is coming off his second career double-digit rebounding game (10) against Georgetown on Tuesday.
Freshman Cameron Ridley ranks second in the Big 12 in blocks (2.6 bpg), and freshman Javan Felix ranks second in the Big 12 in assists (5.9 apg).
Texas enters Saturday's game holding opponents to an average of 56.8 ppg on 32.0% FG shooting (tops in the nation).
