| Fresno State Game Notes
• The 107th Season: Texas tips off its 107th season of intercollegiate basketball when it plays host to Fresno State on Friday, Nov. 9. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. at the Erwin Center. The Longhorns hold an all-time record of 1,658-979 (.629) in their previous 106 years of competition. UT played its first varsity basketball contest on March 10, 1906 and recorded a 27-17 victory against Baylor in Austin. The Horns went on to post a 7-1 mark in the program's opening season. Texas has fielded a varsity basketball team in every year since then with the exception of the 1907-08 season.
• Texas in Season Openers: Texas has posted an overall mark of 87-19 (.821) in its previous 106 season-opening games. The Longhorns are 12-2 in season openers under coach Rick Barnes.
• Texas in Home Openers: Texas has posted an overall mark of 91-15 (.858) in its previous 106 home-opening contests. UT is 30-5 in home openers since the Frank Erwin Center opened prior to the 1977-78 season. The Horns are 12-2 in home openers under coach Rick Barnes.
• Series vs. Fresno State: This marks the third meeting between Texas and Fresno State on the hardcourt. The two teams have split the previous pair of contests. In the first meeting (Dec. 14, 1996), the Longhorns recorded a 98-86 victory against No. 16 Fresno State in Austin. In that game, Reggie Freeman paced the Horns with 43 points (15-of-27 FG, 2-of-6 threes, 11-of-15 FT), tying a Erwin Center record for most points. Freeman still shares the record with Jim Krivacs (Nov. 27, 1978 vs. Northern Montana). In the second matchup between the two schools (Jan. 24, 1998), the Bulldogs registered a 90-82 win in Fresno.
• The Two Coaches: Fresno State head coach Rodney Terry served as an assistant coach at Texas with coach Rick Barnes for nine seasons (2003-11). During this time, the Longhorns posted a 232-80 record and made nine NCAA Tournament appearances. Texas made four "Sweet 16" appearances during Terry's nine years, including a trip to the Final Four in 2003 and the "Elite Eight" in both 2006 and 2008. This marks the first time that the two have met as opposing head coaches.
