Jordan Hamilton bio page
What are your thoughts on playing at the college level? It's been pretty tough so far. You've still got to work at it and still work hard.
How is the leadership on this team? Everybody's good, so you have to work hard. As far as leader's go, I think Dexter Pittman is a perfect example. He took me under his wing, and he's one of the guys I've been hanging out with since I got here. He pushes me. I don't like him every day (laughing), but he makes me go hard. He talks to me a lot, and he just gives me advice on what Coach Barnes is looking for.
How are you going to go about earning playing time on the court? Just working hard. I've got to bring it every day. I can't take days off. That's how I look at it.
What is the biggest adjustment you have to make to succeed? Maturity on and off the court and gelling with the guys. I'm from California and they're from Texas, so it's kind of different in ways. Not in negative ways, but in a good way. I'm just adjusting. I'm learning different things like cultural life and things like that.
What is the importance of defense for a freshman? Coach Barnes emphasizes defense to us all the time. I talked to him the other day for about two hours, and that's what he was telling me. I've got to get my defense down.
Tell us a little about Avery Bradley: Avery is fast. His motor is always running. Sometimes coach tells him to slow down, but in a good way. He's quick on his feet. I think that's one of the things I need to work on, being quick on my toes.
Why did you choose to come to Texas? It's just somewhere I had wanted to go to since I was younger. Coming up in school, Texas was a hot team. I think Coach Barnes is a great coach. I talked to him before I actually committed. Kenton Paulino played against my older brother. He was one of the guys that I looked up to. I saw him at Texas, and I remember when he hit that big shot (to beat West Virginia in the "Sweet 16"). Since then, I've wanted to come here.
