AUSTIN, Texas - A total of 11 former University of Texas men's basketball players will be on NBA rosters as the league commences the 2012-13 regular season tonight.
The Longhorns are one of seven NCAA programs with 10 or more players in the NBA and are tied for fifth with Connecticut and UCLA with 11 players in the league. Texas trails only Kentucky (19), Duke (17), North Carolina (17) and Kansas (14) on the list.
The Longhorns' 11 players are LaMarcus Aldridge (Trailblazers), D.J. Augustin (Pacers), Avery Bradley (Celtics), Kevin Durant (Thunder), Daniel Gibson (Cavaliers), Jordan Hamilton (Nuggets), Royal Ivey (76ers), Cory Joseph (Spurs), Dexter Pittman (Heat), Tristan Thompson (Cavaliers) and P.J. Tucker (Suns). Four of the 11 are under 22-years-old (Joseph, Bradley, Hamilton and Thompson).
The 2012-13 NBA season begins on Tuesday with three night games - Washington at Cleveland, Boston at Miami and Dallas at Los Angeles Lakers.

LaMarcus Aldridge Blazers F 6-11 7th season age: 27
Represented the Trailblazers at the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Begins his seventh season in Portland, holding a career average of 17.8 points per game. Averaging more than 20 points per game in each of the last two seasons. Has played his entire professional career with the Blazers but was originally selected by the Bulls in the first round (second pick overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft.

D.J. Augustin Pacers G 6-0 5th season age: 24

Kevin Durant Thunder F 6-9 6th season age: 24

Boasts career averages of 26.3 points per game on 46.8 percent shooting from the field - 28.1 points per game during the playoffs. Consensus National Player of the Year during his freshman season at Texas.

Longest-tenured Longhorn in the NBA as he begins his ninth season in the league. Returns to Philadelphia, where he spent two seasons in from 2008-10. Has played on four different teams, most-recently coming off a two-year stint with the Thunder. Has career averages of 3.4 points per game and 1.1 assists per game.
