Durant helps USA Basketball to 88-51 victory against Iran in pool play at FIBA World Championship

Box score for USA (88) vs. Iran (51) ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Former University of Texas player and current NBA All-Star Kevin Durant posted 12 points and five rebounds to help Team USA (4-0) to an 88-51 win against Iran on Wednesday in pool play action at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Durant hit 5-of-7 field goals while adding two assists and two steals in just 20 minutes of action. Through the first four contests, Durant leads the team in scoring (18.8 ppg), steals (10) and minutes played (25.8 mpg) and ranks second in rebounding (6.8 rpg). He has converted 27-of-49 (.551) field goals, including 8-of-15 (.533) from three-point range, and 13-of-14 (.929) free throws in the tournament. Team USA concludes preliminary round Group B play on Thursday, Sept. 2 against Tunisia. Tip is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. (Central), and the game will be televised live nationally on ESPN2. With Wednesday's victory, the Americans secured the top seed in Group B and will advance to face the fourth-place team from Group A in the round of 16. The winner of the 2010 FIBA World Championship earns an automatic qualifying berth to the 2012 London Olympics.
