AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas basketball team will have at least 12 of its 18 Big 12 Conference games televised nationally during the 2011-12 regular season, the school announced today following the release of the league schedule. UT previously announced its non-conference slate in early July.
The 2011-12 Big 12 Conference schedule features a new double round robin format consisting of 18 games, with league members playing each other twice. UT will open conference play with a matchup at Iowa State on Wednesday, Jan. 4 and conclude league action at Kansas on Saturday, March 3.
In league play, the Longhorns will be featured five times on ESPN (Jan. 30 vs. Missouri on “Big Monday,” Feb. 6 at Texas A&M on “Big Monday” as part of the State Farm Lone Star Showdown, Feb. 11 vs. Kansas State, Feb. 20 vs. Baylor on “Big Monday” and March 3 at Kansas) and four times on ESPN2 (Jan. 11 vs. Texas A&M as part of the State Farm Lone Star Showdown, Jan. 14 at Missouri, Jan. 18 at Kansas State and Feb. 29 vs. Oklahoma). Texas will make two appearances on CBS (Jan. 21 vs. Kansas and Jan. 28 at Baylor) and one appearance on ESPNU (Jan. 4 at Iowa State).
Three conference games will be aired by the regionally-syndicated Big 12 Network (Feb. 14 at Oklahoma, Feb. 18 at Oklahoma State and Feb. 25 at Texas Tech). Formerly presented as being telecast by ESPN Plus, Big 12 Network games will be seen throughout the conference’s geographic footprint and beyond. The affiliate stations for the games carried by the Big 12 Network will be announced at a later date.
UT’s complete television schedule for the 2011-12 season also will be announced at a later date.
