Saturday’s game between Texas and Oklahoma drew a 1.88 rating, making it the fourth most-viewed Big 12 regular season game ever on ESPN. That also makes it the sixth highest-rated of the 2008-09 season on ESPN.
The Longhorns defeated the second-ranked Sooners, 73-68, in front of a sold out crowd at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Guard A.J. Abrams led Texas with 23 points, including 16 consecutive and 18 of the last 20 in the game’s final eight minutes. Guard/forward Damion James registered his third straight double-double and sixth in the last eight games with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while G Dogus Balbay came close to recording the second triple-double in UT history with 10 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
The No. 25/24 Longhorns take on Texas Tech at the Erwin Center on Wednesday night at 8:30 on ESPN2. Former UT swingman and National Player of the Year Kevin Durant will be on hand as he becomes the third player in Texas history to have his jersey retired with T.J. Ford and Slater Martin.
