Feb. 9, 2012
NEW YORK – The NBA announced Thursday evening the selection of Texas-Ex and current Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge to the Western Conference roster for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Aldridge joins Texas-Ex and current Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant on the Western Conference All-Star roster. It will mark the first All-Star Game in which two former Longhorns have competed. The star-studded affair is set for Sunday, Feb. 26 at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. The game will air live on TNT at 6 p.m. Central. Aldridge ranks fifth in the NBA in scoring at 23.3 ppg through 26 games this season. The six-year veteran, who last month was named a finalist for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team, ranks 22nd in the league in rebounding at 8.5 rpg. Aldridge was an All-NBA Third Team selection last season. Durant, who earned his second consecutive All-Star Game starting nod last week, will make his third career All-Star Game appearance as the Western Conference’s second-leading vote getter with over 1.3 million votes. Durant scored 34 points in his first career All-Star Game start last season. Former Longhorns in the All-Star Game
