Game Notes

Head Coach Rick Barnes
On the carryover from the West Virginia game: I would like to see us carryover some of the real focus that I spoke about after the game. We really made some strides as a team. During that game I saw a team that has been able to grow. We had that at West Virginia for the first time. We had a great practice afterwards, two days ago and yesterday. I want to see us build on that.

On the team's execution at West Virginia: I thought we executed for the most part, there were some things that were happening during the game and situations toward the end - we got fouled, Sheldon was fouled twice but when [West Virginia] went to a 1-3-1, which we talked long and hard about, that was the only time that we did not execute the way we wanted to. That was a time we needed to execute. We knew they were going to go into a 1-3-1 but we did not handle that they way we wanted to even though we got two pretty good looks, if those would have gone in it would have a totally different game; Demarcus shot one that was as wide up as it could be and Julien's three, was okay but it was when he drove in that he forced a shot that he did not have to.

On Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State shoots the ball extremely well. They are a team that really understands their roles. Marcus Smart has made a tremendous impact, the way he plays the game helps the other guys and they have gotten to know what he does well. They are a hard team to guard because they can spread you out. They have a big strong guy as point guard that can hold you out in every way possible.

On the importance of Saturday's game: Where we are right now, they are all important. We are locked into this game because we need all we can get.

On Demarcus Holland: One guy that keeps growing leaps and bounds is Demarcus Holland. After every game you realize that he is getting more and more comfortable. If he did not have to run point, he could have spent all his time on what he was doing earlier in the year and he would be a whole different player. Him and Myck [Kabongo] are our two best defenders, if you get those guys out there, now you got some things working.
