The Two Coaches
Missouri head coach Frank Haith served as an assistant coach at Texas with coach Rick Barnes for three seasons (2002-04). During this time, the Longhorns posted a 73-27 (.730) mark. Texas made three consecutive trips to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA tourney, including a Final Four appearance in 2003. This marks just the second time that the two have met as opposing head coaches. In the first meeting (March 23, 2008), Texas recorded a 75-72 win against Haith's Miami (Fla.) squad in a NCAA Second Round contest in Little Rock, Ark.
Series vs. Missouri
Saturday's contest marks the 23rd meeting between Texas and Missouri. UT holds a slim 12-10 edge in the all-time series, which dates back to a 65-46 Texas victory on Dec. 26, 1946 (an opening-round contest at the All-College Tournament in Oklahoma City). The Horns are 10-4 against the Tigers during the Rick Barnes era. Missouri holds a 5-4 advantage in games played in Columbia in the all-time series entering Saturday's contest, although Texas has posted a 4-2 record in Columbia in the Barnes era.
Texas A&M Game Notes
Texas improved to 11-0 in home games this year. The Horns have posted a +20.7 scoring margin in those 11 contests. Ten of the 11 wins have been by double-digit margins.
Since the beginning of the 1989-90 season, UT has won 41 of the last 50 meetings against Texas A&M.
The Horns improved to 13-1 in home games against Texas A&M during the Rick Barnes era. UT has won its last 10 home contests against the Aggies.
Texas improved to 117-15 (.886) against in-state opponents during the Barnes era, including a 22-7 mark against Texas A&M.
UT made more free throws (22-of-31) than Texas A&M attempted (8-of-16). The Horns improved to 4-0 this year when making more free throws than their opponents attempt.
Julien Lewis (16 points) reached double figures in scoring for the seventh time this year and first time since Dec. 10 vs. Texas State (19 points).
J'Covan Brown (14 points) reached double figures in scoring for the 14th time this year and 47th time in his career (85 games).

Better Defense
After struggling on the defensive end during their two games in New Jersey, the Horns have been a better defensive unit in their last 12 contests. Texas has held its last 12 opponents to an average of 57.8 points per game on a combined 36.3% FG shooting (236-of-650).
Success from the Stripe
Texas has been solid from the free throw line through its first 16 contests. The Horns have converted 71.5% (296-of-414) of their free throw attempts this season. The highest FT percentage team at Texas in the Rick Barnes era came during the 2006-07 season (73.6%). The last time the Horns shot better than 75 percent from the stripe was during the 1977-78 season (76.0%).
What Can Brown Do For You?
Junior guard J'Covan Brown has played in 85 career games (25 starts). A Preseason All-Big 12 Team selection, Brown leads the team in scoring (18.1 ppg) and minutes (33.0 mpg), shares the team lead in steals (21) and ranks second in assists (4.0 apg). He has converted 44.1% (101-of-229) of his field goal attempts, including a 33-of-92 (.359) mark from three-point range. Brown has topped the 20-point mark seven times this year and reached double figures in scoring in 14 of the first 16 games.
Brown Nears 1,000-Point Milestone
J'Covan Brown enters Saturday's game just 17 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point plateau in his collegiate career. He has recorded 983 points in 85 career games (11.6 ppg). Brown will become the 33rd player in UT history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
Chapman Showing Improvement
Clint Chapman has played in 99 career games (six starts). He leads the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg) and blocks (27) while averaging 6.1 points in 20.4 minutes per contest through the first 16 games. Over the last eight games, Chapman has averaged 7.3 points, a team-best 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 23.9 minutes per contest.
Kabongo Takes the Point
Myck Kabongo leads the team in assists (5.3 apg), is tied for the team lead in steals (21) and is third in scoring (9.6 ppg) this season. He has recorded at least five assists in nine of the first 16 games this year. In the last 11 contests, Kabongo has averaged 10.2 points, 5.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game while hitting 30-of-67 (.448) field goals and 45-of-69 (.652) free throws. Kabongo has a 58-to-31 assist-to-turnover ratio during this stretch.
Lewis Finding His Role
Julien Lewis ranks third on the team in steals (19) and tied for fourth in scoring (8.8 ppg) this year. He has reached double figures in points in seven of his first 15 games. He recorded a team-high 16 points (6-of-10 FG, 3-of-3 threes) in 31 minutes off the bench against Texas A&M (Jan. 11).
