Perfect in Big 12 Home Openers under Barnes
Entering Saturday's contest, the Longhorns have posted a 12-0 mark in Big 12 Conference home openers in the Rick Barnes era. Texas is 13-1 in league home openers since the Big 12 began play in 1996-97.

Series vs. Oklahoma
Saturday's contest marks the 77th meeting between Texas and Oklahoma. The Sooners hold a 47-29 lead in the all-time series that dates back to a 59-26 OU victory in Norman on Feb. 25, 1910. The Horns have won eight of the last 10 contests and are 13-5 against the Sooners in the last 18 meetings (dating back to the start of the 2002-03 season). The series record is tied at 16-16 in games played in Austin. The Horns have won five straight home contests against Oklahoma (dating back to the start of the 2005-06 season).

Horns at Home
Texas is in its 34th year of play in the Frank Erwin Center. The Longhorns have posted an all-time record of 400-94 (.810) in the building. Since Rick Barnes arrived in Austin, UT has recorded a 175-23 (.884) mark at the Erwin Center, including an 81-15 (.844) record in Big 12 Conference home games. Texas is 85-8 (.914) at the Erwin Center in the last six seasons (dating to the start of the 2005-06 season).

Texas Tech Game Notes
• The 31-point win (83-52) marked the largest margin of victory by Texas in Lubbock in series history.
• The Horns improved to 24-3 against Texas Tech during the Rick Barnes era, including an 11-2 mark in games played in Lubbock.
• UT improved to 12-1 in Big 12 Conference openers during the Barnes era.
• The Longhorns held the Red Raiders to 39.0% FG shooting, including an 0-of-11 mark from three-point range. Texas allowed just two assists while forcing 13 turnovers.
• The Horns converted 22-of-35 free throws, while Texas Tech went just 6-of-10 from the stripe.
• UT recorded a 42-23 (+19) rebound margin and a 50-to-26 advantage in points in the paint.
Tristan Thompson (20 points) topped the 20-point mark for the third time this year. He reached double digits in scoring for the 12th time this season.
Jordan Hamilton (16 points) reached double digits in scoring for the 15th time this season and 33rd time in his career (50 games).
Cory Joseph (15 points) reached double digits in scoring for the ninth time this year.
Gary Johnson (10 rebounds) reached double figures in rebounds for the third time this year and ninth time in his career (104 games).

Defense Wins
Solid defense continues to be a Texas trademark under coach Rick Barnes. UT has held its first 16 opponents to an average of 62.4 ppg on 36.7% FG shooting, including a 72-of-246 (.293) mark from three-point range. Texas has limited 10 of its first 16 opponents this year to below 40% FG shooting (9-1 mark in those games) and four below 30% FG shooting. The Horns also have allowed just 133 assists against 231 turnovers through the first 16 contests. Since Barnes arrived in Austin, the Horns have held 205 of their 425 opponents to under 40% FG shooting. Texas sports a 186-19 (.907) mark in the Barnes era when accomplishing the feat.

Cleaning the Glass
Texas has outrebounded its opponent in 13 of its first 16 games this season and sports a +7.6 rebound margin (42.9-35.2). UT posted a +19 rebound margin (42-23) in Tuesday's win at Texas Tech.

Hamilton On a Roll
Over the last six contests, Jordan Hamilton has averaged a team-best 20.2 ppg while hitting 46-of-95 (.484) field goals, including 19-of-47 (.404) from three-point range. He posted a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds against North Carolina (Dec. 18). Hamilton followed with a game-high 21 points and eight boards at No. 12/12 Michigan State (Dec. 22). He added a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds against Coppin State (Dec. 31) and a game-high 16 points against Arkansas (Jan. 4). Hamilton posted 20 points and 11 rebounds against No. 8/9 Connecticut (Jan. 8).

Johnson Grabs Leadership Role
Senior forward Gary Johnson is in his fourth season in the frontcourt rotation, having played in 104 career games (33 starts). Through the first 16 contests this year, Johnson is third on the team in scoring (11.9 ppg) and second in rebounding (7.4 rpg). He recorded 16 points and three blocks in the overtime loss against No. 8/9 Connecticut (Jan. 8). Johnson has posted double-figure scoring numbers in 11 of UT's first 16 games this year.

Joseph Taking Care of the Rock
Cory Joseph has done an excellent job of distributing the ball without making mistakes of late. In the last six games, Joseph has recorded 22 assists against just five turnovers (4.4-to-1 ratio). He had a career-best five assists against Coppin State (Dec. 31) and posted four assists without a turnover in the overtime loss to No. 8/9 Connecticut (Jan. 11).

Thompson on a Roll
Tristan Thompson has averaged 17.2 points and 8.6 rebounds while converting 33-of-53 (.623) field goals in the last five games. He earned Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors (Dec. 27) with 17 points (6-of-13 FG) and career-high 15 boards in the victory at No. 12/12 Michigan State (Dec. 22). Thompson added a career-high 22 points (7-of-9 FG) and nine rebounds against Coppin State (Dec. 31). He followed with 14 points (7-of-11 FG), seven boards, three steals and two blocks against Arkansas (Jan. 4). Thompson recorded a game-high 20 points (7-of-11 FG) to go along with six rebounds in 29 minutes during Tuesday's win at Texas Tech (Jan. 11).

Balbay Solid with the Rock
Dogus Balbay currently ranks as the school's career leader in assist-to-turnover ratio (min. 200 assists). He has recorded 252 assists against 103 turnovers (2.45-to-1 ratio) in 77 career games. Balbay has tallied 39 assists against just 14 turnovers in the first 16 contests this season (2.8-to-1 ratio).
