Bryan Lentz begins his third season as a special assistant at The University of Texas. The 35-year-old Lentz assists in all internal operations of the basketball program.

Prior to joining the Texas coaching staff prior to the 2010-11 season, Lentz served as an assistant coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University (Hickory, N.C.) for the previous nine seasons. In his final two years at Lenoir-Rhyne, Lentz was elevated to the position of Associate Head Coach.

In his nine seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne, the Bears captured five South Atlantic Conference regular season titles, one Food Lion SAC Tournament Championship and earned four trips to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

A four-year letterwinner for Lenoir-Rhyne (1997-2000), Lentz finished his playing career with 1,374 points and ranked fifth in school history in assists (388), steals (159) and free throw percentage (.824). He was tabbed the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year in 1996-97 and earned Second Team All-SAC honors as a sophomore in 1997-98. Lentz earned his bachelor's degree in sports management in 2000.

Born April 17, 1977 in Lumberton, N.C., Lentz and his wife, Christy, have two sons, Luke (born Dec. 30, 2003) and Owen (born March 5, 2007).
