First season as Special Assistant / Fourth Season at Texas Chris Babcock begins his first season as a special assistant at The University of Texas and his fourth year overall with the Longhorns' men's basketball program. The 26-year-old Babcock, who served as a graduate manager during the last three seasons, assists in all internal operations of the basketball program. Before his arrival at Texas, Babcock was an assistant coach at Minneapolis Community College during the 2007-08 season. He completed an internship with the NBA's Toronto Raptors in the summer of 2007. Babcock also assisted with summer basketball camps conducted by the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves (2003-07) in addition to working a pair of NBA Pre-Draft Camps (2003-04). Babcock played college basketball at Minnesota State-Mankato for two seasons (2003-04 and 2004-05) before transferring to Hamline University for his final two years. He led Hamline to its first playoff appearance in over a decade and served as a team captain during his senior season. Babcock earned his bachelor's degree in management in 2008. Babcock is scheduled to complete work on his master's of education in December 2011 at Texas. He is the son of Robert Babcock, the Director of Basketball Operations for Minnesota Timberwolves.
