AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas Baseball received National Letters of Intent from two more high school student-athletes on the second day of the early signing period, head coach Augie Garrido announced on Thursday.
“Coach (Tommy) Harmon added two infielders to what we expect to be an outstanding recruiting class,” Garrido said.
Thursday’s signees included Alex Silver, a middle infielder from Houston Bellaire HS, and Christian Summers a middle infielder from San Angelo Central HS. Both players were members of the 2009 Texas Rangers Area Code Team and all-district performers as juniors.
Through two days, the Longhorns have had seven players sign National Letters of Intent, including a catcher, an outfielder, two infielders two pitchers and a pitcher/first baseman.
The Longhorns are expected to finalize the paperwork on more recruits before the early signing period ends on Nov. 18.
Alex Silver – IF – Houston, Texas (Bellaire HS)
• Named 2009 Preseason High School Underclassman All-American Honorable Mention by Perfect Game USA
• First-team All-District 20-5A as a junior
• First-team All-Greater Houston as a junior
• Hit .463 with eight home runs, 42 RBI and 45 runs as a junior
• Member of the 2009 Texas Rangers Area Code Team
