Baseball adds three more signees

Nov. 11, 2010

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Baseball program received National Letters of Intent from three more of the top high school student-athletes in the nation on the second day of the early signing period, the Longhorns announced on Thursday.

"The class is very good. It is not just one area," associate head coach Tommy Harmon said. "It is not just hitting. It is not just pitching. It is an all-around top class. These players are going to be fun to watch as they grow up."

Thursday's haul included an Austin product and a pair of out-of-state players. The Horns added outfielder Collin Shaw from Austin Westlake High School along with left-handed pitcher Dillon Peters from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis and catcher Blake Swihart from Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, N.M.

The group of signees now totals nine, including one catcher, one infielder, two outfielders, four pitchers and a pitcher/shortstop.

The Longhorns are expected to finalize the paperwork on more recruits before the early signing period ends on Nov. 17.
