Sophomore pitcher John Curtiss out for 2013 season

Aug. 16, 2012

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Baseball sophomore pitcher John Curtiss underwent surgery on his right elbow this week and will be out for the 2013 season.

"I'm looking forward to contribute in any way I can to the program this season," Curtiss said. "I think the team is going to be pretty good this year. I know I will work hard to get back."

"John had reconstructive surgery to repair a sprained ulnar collateral ligament to his right elbow," Texas Baseball Athletic Trainer Michael West said. "He is expected to make a full recovery for the 2014 season."

Curtiss went 2-3 for the Longhorns last season with a 3.50 ERA, making four starts and 28 appearances with two saves. In 64 1/3 innings, he allowed 55 hits and 25 earned runs with 25 walks and 48 strikeouts with opponents hitting .237 against him.
