Alaniz was named a second-team starting pitcher. He paced Texas' pitching staff with a 12-3 record and a 2.59 ERA to earn Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and All-Big 12 First Team accolades. The junior held opponents to a .215 batting average and logged 91 strikeouts in 104.1 innings. Alaniz also earned second-team All-America honors from the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball.
