AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Longhorns Taylor Jungmann and Austin Dicharry were named to the Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-American Team, the organization announced on Monday.
Jungmann was tabbed a first-team starting pitcher and Dicharry was named a second-team relief pitcher.
Over the course of the season, Jungmann has worked his way to the number three starting spot for the Longhorns. In 20 appearances, including eight starts, Jungmann went 7-3 with a 2.45 ERA, striking out 81 batters over 73.1 innings. The Temple, Texas product held opponents to a .208 batting average and has only allowed six extra base hits this season.
After starting the season as the Longhorns' weekday starter, Dicharry transitioned into the relief role over the course of conference play. The Spring, Texas native has an 8-2 record and one save in 23 appearances. Opponents are only hitting .183 against the right-hander who also has a 2.40 ERA and 56 strikeouts to his credit.
The 2009 Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA Freshman All-American Team is comprised from 17 conferences and 10 conference championship teams. The two All-American squads are also made up of 12 conference "Rookie of the Year" winners.
Texas owns a 45-14-1 record and won both the Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament titles for the second time in school history.
