Taylor Jungmann named Phillips 66 Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

May 2, 2011

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Longhorns' junior right-handed pitcher Taylor Jungmann was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Pitcher of the Week in voting conducted by a panel of media members covering the league's baseball action.

It marked Jungmann's second Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor this season.

Jungmann fired his third complete-game shutout of the season in UT's 5-0 series-opening win over 10th-ranked Oklahoma, who entered the weekend as the top hitting team in the league. The right-hander lowered his season ERA to 0.90 and improved to 10-0 on the season. Jungmann allowed just four hits with one walk while striking out nine. He registered 1-2-3 innings in six of the nine frames.

The Temple, Texas native leads the Big 12 Conference in wins, ERA, innings pitched (89.2), opponent batting average (.158) and shutouts while ranking second in strikeouts (81).

Jungmann improved to 17-0 all-time in his 24 starts at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and the Longhorns have yet to lose when the northpaw has started a game at home.

The Longhorns return to action on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. contest against the Prairie View A&M Panthers.
