Workman named Phillips 66 Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Longhorns right-hander Brandon Workman was tabbed Phillips 66 Big 12 Pitcher of the Week the conference announced on Monday afternoon. The Bowie, Texas native earned a complete-game victory in the Longhorns' series finale against Nebraska in his only outing of the week. Workman allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over 8.0 innings. On the season, Workman is 3-1 with a 2.94 ERA in five starts. He has pitched two complete games and racked up 33 strikeouts and just eight walks in 33.2 innings. It marked Workman's second career Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor. Longhorns' pitchers have received the award twice this season, with Cole Green earning the accolade on March 1. The Longhorns return to action Tuesday with a 6:05 p.m. game against the No. 25 Rice Owls at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
