TEXAS TERRITORY
• Longhorns starter Brandon Workman has been roughed up a bit in the first innings of games this season, but after that he has been nails. Workman owns a 11.25 ERA in the first inning, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four in 4.0 innings. He is allowing the opponent to hit at a .333 clip in the first inning. After the opening frame, workman settles down and has allowed the opposition to score just five runs, four earned, on 20 hits and six walks while striking out 24 over 21.2 innings. His ERA in innings 2-thru-8 is 1.66.

Chance Ruffin moved from his role as Friday starter last season to closer this year. After a rough start in which he blew a save and was saddled with a loss against New Mexico in his first save opportunity, Ruffin has been scoreless his last eight appearances, picking up two wins and five saves. For the year, he has a 2-1 record with five saves and a 0.54 ERA. He is limiting opponents to a .136 batting average. Ruffin has pitched in the ninth inning of games 10 times this season. In those 10.0 IP, he has fanned 15 of the 40 batters he faced, owns a 0.90 ERA and is limiting the opponent to a .139 batting average.

• The Longhorns currently possess one of the top bullpens in the nation. Through 17 games, Longhorns relievers have hurled 47.0 innings, allowing just 10 runs, six earned, on 27 hits and 11 walks while striking out 49. The bullpen owns a 6-1 record with five saves and a 0.65 ERA. Texas relievers are limiting the opponent to just a .166 batting average. Leading the way are the trio of Chance Ruffin (2-1, 5 SV, 0.54 ERA), Andrew McKirahan (1-0, 1.29 ERA) and Stayton Thomas (2-0, 1.50 ERA).
