TEXAS TERRITORY
Texas is outscoring its opponents 13-1 in the first two innings and have scored more than half of its 24 runs in the first two frames. Longhorns hitters are batting .545 (12-of-22) in the first inning with seven runs and six RBI. They are also hitting .400 (6-of-15) with a .520 on-base percentage in the second inning to account for six runs. The UT pitching has been equally impressive in the first two innings. Texas has yet to yield a hit and have allowed just two base runners in the first inning and is holding opponents to a .118 batting average and a 1.80 ERA in the second inning.
Augie Garrido is one of only two head coaches to ever amass 500 or more wins at two separate Division I schools. Garrido logged 928 wins as head coach at Cal State Fullerton and owns 522 wins as the Longhorns head coach. Jim Morris of Miami [Fla.] entered the season with 695 victories with the Hurricanes and registered 504 wins at Georgia Tech.
Texas starting pitchers have worked at least six innings in all five games this season. The rotation has handed the ball to the bullpen with the Horns leading or the score tied in all five games. The starting pitchers own a 3-0 record with a 0.82 ERA, yielding only 12 hits and three runs over 33.0 innings. The rotation has issued just eight walks while striking out 24.
