• Brandon Loy was the only Longhorn to play in all 67 games for Texas in 2009, starting in all of UT's games as a freshman. Loy batted .288 with 34 runs, eight doubles, one triple, 30 RBI and eight stolen bases. He led the nation with 25 sacrifice bunts. Loy started the first 18 games at third base and moved to shortstop for the last 49 contests. The smooth fielding rookie made eight errors in 278 chances on the left side of the infield for a .964 fielding percentage.
• Texas pitchers yielded just four first-inning runs at UFCU Disch-Falk Field last season and the Longhorns outscored the opponents 35-4 in the opening frame of the 40 games at the Disch.
• Augie Garrido is one of only two head coaches to ever amass 500 or more wins at two separate Division I schools. Garrido logged 928 wins as head coach at Cal State Fullerton and owns 567 wins as the Longhorns head coach. Jim Morris of Miami [Fla.] entered the season with 733 victories with the Hurricanes and registered 504 wins at Georgia Tech.
