Texas defeats Rider 11-0 in opening round of NCAA Baseball Austin Regional

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Brandon Workman pitched a six-hitter and Texas hit three home runs to beat Rider 11-0 in the second game of the Austin Regional on Friday night.
Workman (12-1) got 16 ground outs, two double play balls and seven strikeouts to dominate Rider (36-22). The right-hander faced 34 batters and threw 130 pitches.
The Longhorns (47-11) got all 11 runs with two outs, scoring four runs in the third, two in the fourth and five in the seventh. All but twoTexas starters had hits, highlighted by a two-run home run from catcher Cameron Rupp, a solo shot from Jordan Etier and a three-run shot from Russell Moldenhauer.
Texas (47-11) will play Louisiana on Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns upset two-seeded Rice in the first game Friday.
