AUSTIN, Texas -- Freshman Jordan Weymouth delivered a walk-off single to leftfield to plate Paul Montalbano in the 14th inning to give the No. 2 Texas Longhorns a 2-1 win over the Baylor Bears at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Saturday evening.

With the win, Texas improved its winning streak to 19 games, the longest for the Longhorns since a 20-game streak in 1988. Texas also equaled a Big 12 record with its 16th consecutive league win. The Longhorns equaled a 16-game league win streak posted by Texas A&M in 2008.

Weymouth, who is now 3-for-5 as a pinch-hitter this season, dropped a 2-2 offering into leftfield to drive in Montalbano for the end game. Montalbano, who entered the game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning, reached on a leadoff double into the gap in left centerfield. After Kevin Lusson was intentionally walked to put a pair of runners on, Weymouth was put in the game to pinch-hit for Connor Rowe with the intention of putting down a sacrifice bunt. He missed one bunt attempt and fouled off another before working the count to 2-2 to set up the game-ending heroics.

Texas drew first blood in the bottom of the second. With two outs, Kevin Keyes singled through the right side of the infield and scored when Lusson doubled down the rightfield line to give the Horns a 1-0 lead.

Longhorns’ starter Cole Green appeared to be cruising towards his third consecutive shutout before hitting a road bump in the ninth inning. Logan Vick reached on a leadoff infield single and moved to second when shortstop Brandon Loy’s throw to first was high. A passed ball pushed Vick to third with no outs. After Green fanned Raynor Campbell for the first out of the inning, Joey Hainsfurther pushed a single through the right side of a drawn in infield for the equalizer.

Green had his scoreless innings streak snapped at 30.2 innings. He allowed just one unearned run on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 8.1 innings. Chance Ruffin worked 1.2 scoreless innings, scattering one hit, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out two. Hoby Milner (2-0) earned the victory as he pitched four perfect innings to end the game. He fanned four of the 12 batters he faced.

Longhorns’ pitchers combined to allow seven hits and no earned runs in 14 innings. They have only allowed one earned runs in 24 innings in the first two games of the series against Baylor.

Shawn Tolleson registered a solid performance for Baylor. He yielded one run on six hits and no walks while striking out 11 over 8.0 innings. Brooks Pinckard (1-3) was saddled with the loss. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings.

With the win, Texas improved to 5-0 in extra inning games on the year and it marked their seventh consecutive extra-inning win dating back to 2009.

The Longhorns will attempt to record their fifth consecutive Big 12 series sweep on Sunday when the teams meet in the finale at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m. with the game to be televised nationally on Fox College Sports.
