· Earned one varsity letter as a pitcher for Coach Danny Wallace at Georgetown High School and three letters for Coach Craig Cohely at Rogers High School.
· Named a first-team Class 5A All-State pitcher by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA) and the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) as a senior.
· Tabbed Class 5A Player of the Year by TSWA, Central Texas Player of the Year, Gatorade Texas Player of the Year and Louisville Slugger Texas Player of the Year as a senior. going 14-0 with a 0.77 ERA, 153 K's and four shutouts.
· Named to the 2008 Baseball America High School All-America First Team.
· Posted a 13-0 record with a 0.41 ERA and 142 Ks' in 85 innings to lead Rogers to a 36-2 record and a Class 2A state title as a junior.
· Played in the 2007 AFLAC All-America game and was tabbed a Louisville Slugger All-America in 2008.
· Posted a 10-1 record with a 0.84 ERA and 145 K's in 83.2 innings to earn district MVP, TSWA and THSCA Class 2A All-State honors as a sophomore.
· Posted a 12-2 mark with a 0.90 ERA and 138 K's in 70.1 innings to earn district MVP and THSCA Class 2A All-State as a freshman.
· Drafted in the 24th round of the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Angels.
