· A four-year varsity letterwinner as an outfielder under Coach Danny Wallace at Georgetown (Texas) High School.
· Earned all-district first-team honors, All-Centex, District 14-5A, third-team all-state and all-county honors while captaining the Eagles' run to the regional semifinals as a senior.
· Named first-team all-district and helped GHS win the bi-district title as a junior.
· Selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 11th round of the 2007 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
