2011 highlights
• Retired both batters he faced, striking out one against UTSA (3/8).
• Pitched a scoreless 3.1 innings in his first start of the season, allowing only one hit and three walks while striking out three against Texas State (3/15).
• Recorded a combined 2.2 innings of scoreless relief with a strikeout in back-to-back appearances against Kansas State (3/19-3/22).
• Notched a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout against Prairie View A&M (4/3).
HIGH SCHOOL
• A four-year varsity letterwinner as pitcher and first baseman for Coach Cody Robbins at Nederland (Texas) High School.
• Logged an 8-2 record with two saves, pitching 51 innings with 98 strikeouts and hit .412, producing 18 RBI's, two home runs, 28 hits and seven doubles as a senior.
• Earned all-district as a first baseman all four years and as a pitcher during his junior and senior campaigns.
• Garnered honorable mention All-State Class 4A recognition as a first baseman from the Texas Sports Writers Association as a senior.
• Earned honorable mention All-State Class 4A recognition as both a pitcher and a first baseman from the Texas Sports Writers Association as a junior.
• Garnered the Golden Triangle MVP and the District 20-4A MVP honors his junior and senior years.
• Also earned three letters in football as quarterback, and was named Football Newcomer of the Year his sophomore year and all-district Quarterback as a junior.
• Named District 22-4A Newcomer of the Year in 2007 and all-district as a junior.
• Passed for 1,707 yards and 18 TDs as a junior.
• Suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the first game of his senior season of football.
• Drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 29th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
