Why does UT Athletics need a foundation? Don't they get money from The University?
Actually, athletics is a self-supporting UT auxiliary and receives no state funds. Ticket sales, television revenue, and advertising income account for less than 50 percent of needed operating funds for UT Athletics. Private support is very important in order to sustain the future of the 20-sport men's and women's programs.
How much do I need to donate to become a member of The Longhorn Foundation?
Your 80 percent tax deductible gift of $150 or more establishes your participation in The Longhorn Foundation. This entitles you to season ticket priorities, parking privileges, away game ticket priorities, and more. Each donor has an annual and a cumulative dollar total.
How can I get parking?
Game-day parking privileges for all sports are extended based upon donation level and are available only to Foundation donors who also purchase season tickets in those sports. See the benefit chart for more details.
How does the matching gift program work?
You can automatically increase the value of your donation if your employer participates in a matching gift program. (Contact your employer for participation details and to obtain the matching gift form or click here to find out if your company matches). Please be aware that many companies will match only the tax deductible portion of your contribution. Your company's matching gift form needs to accompany your contribution. (Note: If the total of your donation and the amount matched by your employer does not equal the amount due to renew your current priority benefits, you are responsible for the balance).
What are the deadlines for making a contribution?
The annual donation period runs from December 1-March 1, so that you may choose which year you would like to receive your tax benefits. In order to receive priority for away game and Texas-OU AT&T Red River Rivalry football tickets, your donation must be received by March 1 each year.
Will I receive a tax receipt for my contribution?
The University Development office will send out an official tax receipt within 60-90 days of your gift. To request a duplicate tax receipt, please call the Longhorn Foundation office at 512-471-4439.
How do I get the best seats?
The Longhorn Foundation uses a point system for annual and cumulative contributions. Donors receive one point for each dollar contributed. Points are used to determine ticket and seating priorities, parking lot locations and other benefits.
Season tickets are renewed and seating locations are retained by fulfilling the annual donation each year and by purchasing the season tickets. Location improvement is based on availability, the donor's request, the annual point total, and the cumulative gift total. Improvement of seat locations can only be accomplished when other season ticket holders release their seats. This is rare. Only a few seats are released each year. Quantity and location of open seats cannot be predicted.
If I am a new donor, how can I order season tickets?
After making your annual contribution, you must request a season ticket application for each sport in which you are interested in obtaining season tickets. Applications will not automatically be sent to you.
Is an annual gift required to protect my seat location?
In order to maintain your current seats, you will be required to make the same annual charitable contribution you made when the tickets were originally allocated. If you move or add seats at any time, your annual contribution will change to the amount you give at that time.
Can I transfer my tickets to someone else?
Tickets are only transferrable to an existing spouse. They may not be transferred to children or anyone else.
May I request more than one parking permit?
Longhorn Foundation policy states that you may only receive one parking permit per account.
