Texas Fans Make Us Proud sportsmanship initiative
The University of Texas, the Athletics Department and the Texas Exes would like to say -- Texas Fans Make Us Proud.
This year, the Texas Exes brought together a large group of constituents from across the campus -- students, band and spirit groups, athletics staff, police, alumni -- to brainstorm ways of leading our University community, our conference, and the nation to higher levels of fan sportsmanship.
One result is the message above -- Texas Fans Make Us Proud. It is, of course, depending on the pronunciation, a statement of fact or a request and it was meant as both. This season and for years to come, you'll be seeing this message on banners, cups, shirts, napkins, jumbotrons, blimps, buses, and any other surface we can get it on, because we think it's a message worthy of maximum exposure.
Whether we're in Fort Worth, Dallas, Morgantown or Austin, good sportsmanship is something we have to actively think about. Here then, are some concrete suggestions for how you can help make The University of Texas the leader, not just of college sports, but of college sportsmanship, and make UT sporting events the model for safety, civility, and team pride:
Watch your alcohol. If you drink alcohol, know your limit and stay well under it.
The success of this campaign will help create a safe and positive environment for recruits, student-athletes, coaches, media, alumni and fans. It is our hope that it will also create a nationwide emphasis on sportsmanship-related issues leading to more safe and positive environments on all college campuses.

We invite you to use the "Texas Fans Make Us Proud" logo ("Mark") in your office, home, community, or wherever else you feel will get the word out and empower Longhorns fans to take pride in this message. This Mark includes an officially registered trademark of The University of Texas at Austin. The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) of Atlanta is UT's licensing agent. All UT's trademark policies apply for use of this Mark. Please see the guidelines below for official use of the logo.
How to access and receive permission to utilize the official "Texas Proud" logo
Only those entities with sponsorship agreements with Host Communications/Longhorns Sports Network may use the Mark in conjunction with their business/company mark. (This is consistent with policies in place for use of the Longhorn silhouette, which is included in the Mark.)
It is permissible for companies/corporations/institutions/individuals to order placards, signs, banners of the Mark to place within their buildings, retail establishments, etc. (NOTE: The University considers this use a community message regarding good sportsmanship for the Intercollegiate Athletics teams.) Other examples of appropriate use: banners, table tents, placards, painted windows, building projections. These items are considered encouraging positive fan support and assist in creating an atmosphere of spirit and passion for the programs.
To obtain approval for use of the logo on items referenced above:
In a written request format, provide the following as it relates:
Who is making the request? Company or business displaying item(s).
"Texas Proud" is the only logo that can be on the item. (The Mark cannot be altered or have elements added to it.)
Supply a copy of the material on which the logo will appear (artwork, etc.) to help illustrate the overall impression of the use.
Please provide your written request via facsimile or e-mail to Martita Huntress (512-232-7080 or firstname.lastname@example.org). Be sure to provide as much information as possible to help expedite the request. Expect to receive a response from our office in writing via email or fax.
