AS A MEDICAL REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2004)
2004 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year ... earned first-team Big 12 All-Academic honors ... returned to the court after a season-ending knee injury (torn left anterior cruciate ligament) kept her out of all but two matches in 2003 … started all 31 matches … had seven double-figure kill matches and 10 double-figure dig matches and a total of three double-doubles (kill/dig) …added four assists at SMU (9/3) ... tied a then-career high with two block assists at Houston (9/7) ... had a then-season-high 12 digs vs. Louisiana Tech (9/11) ... added 11 digs and five kills in the team's victory at Baylor (9/15) ... set a career high with three block assists (and total blocks) in the team's victory over Colorado (9/18) ... had a career-high four blocks (one solo, three block assist) at No. 21 Kansas (9/25), and hit for five kills with no errors ... had a UT-high 14 kills at No. 5 Florida (9/29) and hit for .591 in the match ... swung for nine kills and a .500 attack percentage against Oklahoma (10/2) ... had a match-high 16 digs at Texas Tech (10/6) ... had 10 kills on a .474 attack percentage, and added eight digs and two blocks, in the team's victory at No. 16 Kansas State (10/9) ... had 11 digs and three blocks in the team's victory over Missouri (10/13) ... had her first double-double of the season with 13 kills and 14 digs at No. 20 Texas A&M (10/16) ... had nine kills and 13 digs, along with two aces, one block solo and two block assists, against No. 20 Nebraska (10/20) ... had 12 kills and a .455 attack percentage, nine digs and three blocks against No. 18 Kansas State (10/23) ... had a career-high four block assists to go with five kills and seven digs at Oklahoma (10/27) ... had a UT-best four aces and added eight digs at Colorado (11/3) ... had her second double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs against No. 13 Texas A&M (11/11) ... had nine kills and nine digs and a .300 attack percentage at Missouri (11/14) ... had 15 digs at No. 2 Nebraska (11/24), her highest total since collecting 16 at Texas Tech ... had seven kills and no errors, hitting .438, in Texas' first-round NCAA Tournament victory over Texas State (12/3) ... was the catalyst in Texas' NCAA second-round victory over Michigan (12/4) with 12 timely kills and 12 digs … added 10 kills, six digs and two blocks in the team's loss to eventual national champion Stanford in the NCAA Sweet 16 (12/10).
AS A SOPHOMORE (2003)
Voted the 2003 Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year … transferred to Texas from Oregon during the summer … member of the 2002 Puerto Rico National Team ... missed the team's first eight matches while she played on the Puerto Rican entry at the 2003 Under-20 World Championships in September in Thailand … made her Longhorns debut against Iowa State (9/17), in which she recorded five kills on 16 attacks and had nine digs and one block assist in the 3-0 victory … played only a game and one-half in UT's next match - vs. Nebraska (9/20) - before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee mid-match … missed the remainder of the season while recovering from reconstructive surgery and returned to the court in time for the team's European Tour in May, where she played back row in all five matches … gained a medical redshirt for the season at the end of the year.
AT OREGON (2002)
Earned All-Pac 10 Conference honorable mention honors … selected to the Pac 10 all-freshman team … was second on the team in kills per game (3.73), digs per game (2.76) and service aces per game (0.35) … had a season-high 23 kills (10/18) against Arizona State, which also was the most kills in a single match by any Oregon player in 2002 … had a career-high 20 digs twice: vs. Oregon State (11/1) and vs. UCLA (11/9) … recorded nine double-doubles in Pac-10 play … missed Oregon's entire 2002 non-conference while playing on the Puerto Rican National Team before joining the Ducks at the beginning of the Pac-10 season (9/21 at Washington State).
BEFORE TEXAS
Starred for the Puerto Rico Junior National Team which won the 2002 NORCECA Championship … named an AAU Junior National Volleyball 16-U and 17-U All-American while playing for Chicas San Juan team … starred on the Saint Francis School (Carolina, P.R.) volleyball and track and field squads … led Saint Francis to back-to-back state (island) championships as a junior and senior (2000 and 2001) while playing for head coach Viviam Salib … was voted team MVP as a senior and was also elected St. Francis' student-athlete of the year as a senior … also a member of the National Honor Society and high honor roll.
