Texas cracks national Top 10

AUSTIN, Texas - Just four weeks after entering the USA Today/CSTV Coaches Top 25 Poll, the Texas volleyball team cracked the national Top 10 this week, earning a ranking of No. 9 in the latest edition released on Monday, Oct. 11.

The last time Texas was ranked as high as No. 9 was Oct. 25, 1999, when the team earned a ninth-place ranking from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), who administers the USA Today/CSTV Coaches Top 25 Poll.

After a 2-0 week that saw Texas earn a pair of 3-0 road victories - over Texas Tech and No. 16 Kansas State - Texas remains one of four undefeated teams in the nation. The victory over K-State on Saturday, Oct. 9, was the team's third over a ranked team in 2004 as all three have come on the road.

The Horns, now 15-0 overall and tied for first in the Big 12 Conference with a 7-0 league mark, return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 13, when the team hosts Missouri in a 6:30 p.m. match at Gregory Gym.
