remained in the Top 10 in the USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Coaches Poll this
week, falling one spot to No. 10. Texas is ranked No. 12 in this week‚s
Volleyball Magazine poll.
Texas fell from the ranks of the undefeated
last weekend after a 3-1 loss at No. 20 Texas A&M ... UT had
opened its season 16-0 for the first time since 1990 when the team
started 26-0.
With its victory last Wednesday (Oct. 13) against Missouri,
Texas surpassed its 2003 win total (15)
Texas leads the nation in hitting
percentage (NCAA Stats release, 10/12/04), with a .341 mark through
last week, and is ranked 13th in kills per game (16.96) and 14th in
assists per game (15.58) with a freshman - Michelle Moriarty - leading
the offense at setter.
Mira Topic leads the Big 12 in both overall and
conference only kills/game ... nationally, she is ranked 10th in kills/game
in the latest stats release (10/12) ... last week she earned her third
Big 12 Player of the Week award of the season for her performances
against Texas Tech and Kansas State.
Mira Topic has now posted three-straight
20-kill matches, with a pair of them coming against ranked teams (25
at No. 16 Kansas State; 25 at No. 20 Texas A&M).
Alyson Jennings
has reset her career high in digs in each of the last two matches (17
vs. Missouri then 20 at Texas A&M).
UT has limited it opponents
to a hitting percentage under .250 in 15 of its 16 matches, including
six matches where the team has held its opponents below .100 ... offensively,
