Texas jumped into the national rankings this week when the Horns entered the USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Coaches Poll at No. 22 in the Sept. 20 poll. It's the team's first ranking since the first poll of 2003.
Texas is one of eight remaining undefeated teams in the nation, joining Toledo, Washington, Ohio State, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State, Hawaii and Penn State.
The Longhorns are 9-0 to open a season for the first time since 1990 when the Horns opened 26-0 ... UT will look to go 3-0 in the Big 12 for the first time since 2001.
Senior Mira Topic has recorded a double-double in each of the last two matches and now has six in nine matches this season. She was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday after collecting 44 kills (5.50/game) and 31 digs (3.88/game) in a 2-0 week for the Horns.
Topic collected her 1,000th dig last Wednesday night (Sept. 15) and in the process, became the seventh player in UT history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career.
UT has limited it opponents to a hitting percentage under .250 in each of its nine matches.
Saturday's match against Colorado was the first time in 2004 that Texas failed to lead a match in either kills or digs.
Senior Bethany Howden is 14 kills away from recording her 1,500th career kill ... Topic is three aces shy of tying the UT career ace record and four shy of owning the record.
Topic is one dig shy of entering the UT career Top 10 in the category. She enters Wednesday's match with 1,027 digs, one shy of 10th-place Missy Curt's 1,028.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Iowa State is 7-2 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 matches after dropping its conference opener to No. 12 Texas A&M (3-1) and defeating Oklahoma (3-1) on Friday evening in Norman ... Katie Kruenegel leads the Cyclones in kills and kills/game (95 total, 2.97 kills/game) and has a .268 attack percentage ... Meghan Ferrie had a team-best .330 attack percentage, while Katie Churm had a team-best 4.44 digs/game.
