  Munich
  Marienplatz in Munich

MUNICH, Germany -- Wow, I can't believe that the trip is over!! It has gone by so fast and today was no exception. Although we didn't really have any planned sightseeing for the day, we were able to find some of the important sights in Munich while we were shopping and sightseeing.

It was nice to sleep in a little and have breakfast a little later that what we have been doing for most of the trip. We had a couple of hours to shop before we had to prepare for our last match of the tour. So, some of the other girls and I made our way to the pedestrian shopping center where we were on a mission to find the sweets of the region!

We found exactly what we were looking for in chocolate and the ever-famous Haribo gummy candies. I stocked up to bring back many treats for my family and friends. We asked some of the locals what the best chocolate was and they suggested "Milka." I bought 14 bars, Jenny (Andrew) bought 15, and Erin (Larson) bought 12. I think we have enough chocolate to last us until we can eventually find our way back to Munich one day.

Since Munich proclaims itself to be the beer capital of the world, we were also on a mission to find beer steins for some friends back home. I bought a couple forgetting that I have absolutely no room left in my bag to get them home. I guess I will have to deal with that tonight when I pack…it is going to be a tight squeeze. These steins are huge!

After collecting our local souvenirs, we headed to McDonald's for a little American pre-game meal. I never eat McDonalds when I am home, but for some reason on this trip it has been a hot stop. We headed back to the hotel to rest up for the match. Erin and I couldn't fall asleep, so we cranked up my head phones to the maximum and jammed to some good 'ole country music - which is our favorite - for an hour and a half. That was nice and relaxing after our hectic day of shopping.

I did manage to sneak in a quick nap on our way to the gym in the bus. When the bus stopped I was still a little sleepy and I smashed my head right into the TV set hanging from the top of the bus. After that I was wide awake and ready to go.

The match was exciting and it felt really good to end our trip with a win. The all-star team was really sweet and welcoming and very athletic. After the match, we hurried back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We went to a very authentic German landmark called the Hofbrauhaus. They are known all around town as THE place to go when you're in Munich.

Dinner was a little bitter sweet because we knew it was our last in Europe. After dinner we walked around town for a little bit and took in the sites of Munich. The only thing left to do is try to fit all the things that I bought here back in my suit case. It's going to be a challenge.

This has been a great experience and one that will never be forgotten. Over the trip the team has given me a nickname "Holler", which was derived from my last name. I have a good feeling that this might stick with me for the next four years while I'm at UT.

So, thank all ya'll back home for keeping up with us! Hook 'em Horns…we are coming home!
