Rome is such an interesting and fascinating city. We saw a little bit of everything while we were there: someone getting hit by a car, someone getting pick-pocketed, street vendors on every corner, people from all over the world, and a true Italian culture of people and their breathtaking sites.

Most importantly, you couldn't walk down a street without passing at least five coffee shops and gelaterias. Gelato is an Italian ice cream that our team has completely fallen in love with. I've got to admit that I've had gelato three times a day when we were in Rome; it was just too hard to resist. Gelato is a dessert after meals, but before every meal is a time for our teams' coffee addiction. Coach (Jerritt Elliott) and his wife Sarah, (Assistant coach) Tonya (Johnson), Whitney (Garvens), Bethany (Howden), Jen (Christian) and I are becoming so spoiled on having the best espresso, cappuccinos, and lattes four or five times a day that it will be hard to resort back to Starbucks when we return to the states.

When we're traveling from city to city in our charter bus, it's almost impossible not be taken aback from the scenery and get lost to the music in your headphones. The entire team is spread out on the bus, taking up four or five seats each, and either sleeping or staring out the window at the amazing sights.

Yesterday, we traveled three-and-a half-hours from Rome to Communanza, which is on the Eastern side of Italy. Communanza is literally one street long and you question the fact that three thousand people make up the population of the town. It seems like far fewer. There is a very relaxing feeling sleeping with your windows open and always having scenery to look at.

After taking a two-hour nap when we arrived, we met for a team dinner last night before our second Italian match. The dinners always include a pasta dish like lasagna, tortellini, spaghetti, or penne, then opposite from an American meal, the salad follows the main course.

Last night's match was really special because it was one of the first matches with our new roster that we clicked as a team. We were having a blast playing and being with each other on the court and the sidelines. We played with a lot of energy and emotion that will carry over into the rest of our stay here and into next season.
