UT's Bethany Howden named Big 12
Volleyball Player of the Week

DALLAS - The University of Texas' junior Bethany Howden (Austin,
Texas/Westlake) was named Big 12 Volleyball Player of the Week for
her outstanding accomplishments during the week of Oct. 27 - Nov. 2,
the conference announced on Monday.
For the week, Howden averaged 7.50 kills per game, 1.62 digs per game and 8.28
points per game as Texas went 1-1, including a victory over No. 24 Missouri.
Last Wednesday (Oct. 29), Howden hit a game-high 28 kills in the team's win
over Mizzou. She also added eight digs, four blocks (three solo and one assisted)
and one ace. In that match, Howden posted a career-high of 86 attacks,
which broke the UT record for a four-game match, and is also the highest number
of attacks in the league this season across all matches.
Against Iowa State on Sunday (Nov. 2), Howden posted a career-high, and a match
high, 32 kills, tying teammate Mira Topic's UT record for kills in a four-game
match. She tallied 11 of the team's 22 kills in game three.
This season, Howden is ranked second in kills in Big 12 Conference matches
with 236 (4.92/game). Across all matches, she has accumulated 369 kills
on 1,000 attacks with an attack percentage of .205, 22 aces, 167 digs and 49
blocks (26 solo, 23 assisted) overall. Howden leads the team in kills and is
second in aces.
Texas has a mid-week conference bye m but will return to action on Saturday,
Nov. 8 against Kansas at Gregory Gym on the UT campus at 7 p.m.
