UT-Arlington defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-0 (30-15, 30-16, 30-20), in the fifth match of the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational on Friday evening before 183 in Texas' Gregory Gym. The duo of Melissa Robinette (11 kills) and Elizabeth Davis (10 kills) led the Mavericks, while Melanie Travis (five kills) led the Islanders. With the win, UT-Arlington moved to 2-7 on the season, while TAMUCC fell to 3-6.

UTA benefited throughout the match from the strong serving of Heather Dunn and Julie Felts. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi had hitting percentages of .000 in both the first and third games, while UTA had games of .258 and .406, respectively. Overall, the Mavericks hit for .333, while the Islanders were limited to a .013 mark. UTA had 49 kills to TAMUCC's 22.
The Mavericks built a 21-9 lead early and cruised to the first-game win. In the second, the Islanders fell behind 14-3 and struggled to keep the score close before UTA closed out the game. TAMUCC kept the third game competitive, pulling to 14-11 before UTA took control and closed the game on a 10-2 run.
