In the final game, UT pulled away with a 21-17 lead and closed the game out on a Nicholls State service return error of a Jenny Andrew serve.

"We still need to work on our consistency, but overall we played well and battled back once we hit adversity tonight," head coach Jerritt Elliott said after the match. "We have spurts where we play well, but then we relax and let our opponents back into the game. We need to be on top of our game tomorrow when we face Notre Dame.

"The fans were great tonight and we really felt them behind us in the final game. We hope they will be there to cheer us on again tomorrow."

The 21st-ranked Irish (3-1) battled back from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Houston (2-2) in a five-set match. Lauren Kimbley paced ND with 22 kills, while Kelly McAnelly had 19 kills for the Cougars.

Houston will face Nicholls State at noon on Saturday at Gregory Gym. Texas will play Notre Dame at 7 p.m. in the final game of the Longhorn Classic.
