Volleyball Team Meets & Greets Fans

AUSTIN, Texas -- About 250 people got their first glimpse of the new era of Texas Volleyball during a meet and greet session with first-year head coach Jerritt Elliott and his 2001 Longhorns volleyball team on Thursday evening at Gregory Gymnasium. Fans were able to get a look at the 2001 squad during an informal practice before meeting the players and coaches and being treated to a barbeque dinner and ice cream.

The general public can get a preview of the 2001 Texas volleyball team at the Orange-White scrimmage this Saturday, Aug. 25, at Gregory Gym, which is located on Speedway and 21st Street. Admission is free and first serve is slated for 5 p.m.

Texas officially opens its 2001 campaign when it faces Purdue at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash., on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. CST. The Longhorns' first home match is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4, against Southwest Texas State in the Culver's Frozen Custard Classic.
