TEXAS TERRITORY
Currently riding a six-game home winning streak, the Horns need a victory over BYU on Oct. 14 to tie for the longest home winning streak in program history (seven games in 2000).
The Longhorns 1-1 double-overtime tie at Colorado on Oct. 10 not only marked the team's first tie since Sept. 27, 2002 (a 1-1 tie with Washington at home), but it was also their first tie on the road since Oct. 22, 1999 (a 0-0 tie at Kansas).
UT's offense has now scored three or more goals in seven of 13 regular-season games to date in 2004.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Gagarin returned from some nagging injuries early in the year to make her first two starts of the 2004 campaign at Nebraska on Oct. 8 and at Colorado on Oct. 10. Notably, she made nine saves over those two conference tilts.
With a three-point effort at Nebraska on Oct. 8 to increase her team scoring lead to 27 points (9 goals and 9 assists), Kelly Wilson has now tallied at least two points in seven of UT's last 13 matches.
On the strength of a goal and an assist versus Nebraska and Colorado, respectively, Kelly McDonald has now recorded points in each of the last three matches and stands second on the team in conference scoring with six points.
Kelsey Carpenter and Caitlin Kennedy each chimed in with one goal apiece against the Buffaloes and Huskers, respectively, to continue to rank second and third on the squad in scoring (14 points for Carpenter and 12 points for Kennedy). Notably, Kennedy has registered at least one point in eight of the past 12 games, including five of the last seven matches.
Up next, Texas concludes its 2004 regular-season home schedule with a pair of conference matches next weekend against Iowa State on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 pm Central and versus Kansas on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1 pm Central. Notably, the match against the Jayhawks is presented by University Federal Credit Union.
