The Longhorns, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Chris Petrucelli, will enter the 2004 campaign having posted four straight double-digit win seasons and having earned three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths.
Texas returns 18 letterwinners, including 10 starters, from a 2003 squad that finished with a 12-9 overall record, placed second in the Big 12 final standings with a 7-3 mark and qualified for the program's third consecutive NCAA Tournament one year ago.
UT's top seven leading scorers from last season are among the 22 players that make up the 2004 roster, including M.A.C. Hermann Trophy "Watch List" selections Kelly McDonald and Kelly Wilson, who have combined for 174 points over the past three seasons and rank first and second, respectively, on the school career charts for goals and points.
As members of the U.S. Under-21 National Team, which was coached by Longhorns head coach Chris Petrucelli, this past summer, senior Kelly Wilson and sophomore Nikki Thaden aided the Americans in capturing their sixth straight Nordic Cup title.
Kelly Wilson needs only eight assists this coming season to establish a new UT career mark in that category.
Up next, the Horns open the 2004 campaign on Friday, Aug. 27 with a 7:30 p.m. Central match at Myers Stadium against Clemson. Of note, the first 500 fans through the gates will receive a 2004 UT Soccer Magnet Schedule courtesy of Texadelphia.
