Texas
Volleyball plays all its home matches in historic
Gregory Gym, one of the finest collegiate volleyball
facilities in the country. The site that produced
some
of the most memorable moments in UT history made
its much-anticipated return in 1998 after an eight-year
layoff which saw Texas split time between UT's Recreational
Sports Center and the Frank Erwin Center.
The state of the art Gregory Gym features a friendlier,
roomier environment for players, coaches and fans alike.
Spacious locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms and a
players' lounge were constructed, as well as a new
sound system -- both on the court and in the team room
-- and a new playing surface. Longhorns fans are treated
to upper-level seating that puts them right on top
of the action. Additionally, fans on the floor level
are treated to seat backs for more comfortable viewing.
The 4,400-seat facility also is home to the University
of Texas Recreational Sports Department that provides
students and UT athletes with two fully-equipped weight
rooms, an eight-lane pool, 10 racquetball courts, an
exercise lounge, a climbing walll and a three-lane
track that overlooks four full-length basketball/volleyball
courts.
One thing that hasn't changed about the facility is
the tremendous support the Longhorns receive from their
fans. Nearly 500,000 spectators have turned out since
the 1982 season for an average attendance of more than
1,500 per match. And the Longhorns have sent their
fans home happy with victories in more than 82 percent
of those matches. |
