• Was averaging 15 points and seven rebounds per game in 1981-82 when a serious knee injury ended his season (UT was 14-0 and ranked fifth at the time)
• Endured two operations and 2.5 years of rehabilitation
• Returned for 1984-85 season and earned team MVP and All-SWC honors
• Averaged 12.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 57.1 percent from the field during his career
• Later became head coach at Converse-Judson High School
• Served as president of Texas Association of Basketball Coaches in 1999-2000
