• Named Houston Post's SWC MVP on offense in 1961
• Finished third in 1961 Heisman Trophy balloting and was UT team MVP
• Finished career with 1,524 yards rushing
• Led UT to SWC titles in 1959 and 1961
• Selected as Texas Sports Writers Association Amateur Athlete of the Year in 1961
