• UT's first great varsity women's swimmer
• 1978 FINA World Champion in 100 individual medley and 400 freestyle
• Broderick Award winner as the nation's outstanding collegiate swimmer (1978-79)
• Member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic team, which boycotted the Olympic Games held in Moscow
• After two-year hiatus, rejoined team in 1983 and led UT to first NCAA crown in 1984
• Won a total of eight NCAA and AIAW event titles and 28 All-America awards
• Completed her master's degree in health promotion and exercise science at Vanderbilt University, followed by postgraduate studies toward her doctorate degree in preventive health care at the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University in California
